Montmorency & nemours Farm

Built in 1937 and on the National Register of Historic Places, this property has evolved from working farm to a racehorse breeding operation to its current iteration as a primary residence for the family to enjoy. Maffei Landscape Design prepared meticulous documentation and coordinated communication between the owner and the regulating agency for the property’s conservation easement, ensuring that both the needs of the owner and the intent of the preservation instruments are met. From master planning through detailed planting design, our firm worked on nearly every part of this 65-acre parcel, from a new reflecting pond to the renovation of the brick and ironwork gates, to the Nemours Farm Courtyard Garden with its historic brick serpentine walls and seasonally expressive perennial display.

The Courtyard Garden was awarded a Silver Medal in Planting Design from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers in 2022 and an Award of Merit in Landscape Design from the Perennial Plant Association in 2023.
